This film portrays one of my favorite activities (painting). It shows me as an intense and passionate painter seriously engaged in a project. In a way, this piece makes a reference to time by displaying the process of making a work of art.
My video juxtaposes a melancholy sequence of portraits of older people with an aggressive effect that exposes their vulnerability to age. Wrinkles emerge from the background and over impose their authority on the physical integrity of the people.
Age is a great indicator of time. My piece shows portraits of older people located in a lifeless and dry space. The cracks of this dry land as well as the wrinkles on the people’s faces depict the effect of time. I think of the wrinkles on people’s skin as topographic features that lead us to their past, where an infinite number of stories about each person’s identity have been stored.
